From May until June 2018 I had the opportunity to work and research in the city of Venice through the British Council. The theme of the 16th International Architecture Biennale was “Freespace” something I was keen to explore in my work as well as personal interests such as Service Design and Smart Cities. I produced the below report exploring these themes as a result of the research fellowship.
“Exploring Venice’s unique position as a smart city and how it responded to the problems it was facing with simple solutions and co-design. Through this learning, one can begin to envision what’s possible for another developing smart city, Dundee, when it approaches its problems with human aspects over technological focus.”
