Time To Shine
My time representing Scotland nationally and internationally in ‘Youth Arts Voice Scotland’ and the “National Youth Arts Advisory Group” advising on the allocation and spending of the £5million Time to Shine Strategy.
From August 2014 to Jan 2018 I acted as a National Youth Arts Adviser to Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government. I applied to this role while in school and was one of fifteen successful young people offered the role aged 14-25. The main responsibility of the role was to advise on the allocation of a £5million national strategy aiming to engage young people in the arts. A large portion of this funding was allocated to regional hubs we worked closely with to increase local uptake. We were responsible directly for the Nurturing Talent Fund which young people could directly request funding each quarter to help them overcome barriers in accessing the arts. There were many other responsibilities including speaking in parliament to the Education and Culture Committee, addressing the Edinburgh International Culture Summit, setting up a wider Youth Arts Ambassador program, conducting an evaluation of the implementation stage in partnership with Research Scotland and assisting in organising of the TTS Unconvention - the first-ever national celebration of youth arts. You can read about some of these on the Early Activism page.
